Editor's Pick: Eda's Sugarfree

In 1958, Paul Lehman founded Eda’s, a candy company that caters to a diabetic’s sweet tooth. He opened his first candy shop in the Brooklyn Terminal Market. Throughout its many years of existence, the company has maintained the goal of making one of the best sugar free candies.

Candy is one of the many pleasures in life that I can enjoy with a limit, mainly due to the fact that it contains so much sugar. Eda’s premium hard candy allowed me to exceed that limit.

It’s exciting to know the variety of flavors this small bag of individually wrapped hard candy offers. My top three favorite flavors are strawberry, green apple, and blueberry. I love how the candy had a smooth texture even as it dissolved in my mouth. I also like how it wasn’t too sweet. That made it even more enjoyable.

Editor's Pick: CideRoad Organic Switchel

CideRoad Organic Switchel claims to be America’s original thirst quencher. Every bottle contains three basic ingredients that have something special to offer to every sip. Apple cider vinegar helps to lower blood sugar and cholesterol. It can also soothe sore throats and heart burn. Maple syrup serves as the sweetener and can also replenish energy. Lastly, ginger can relieve joint and muscle pain, and alleviate nausea. CideRoad Organic Switchel is offered in three flavors: Original, Blueberry, and Cherry.

Blueberry flavoring is not common, so I jumped at the opportunity when I when I saw it was one of the flavors. CideRoad Blueberry accompanied me on a day of relaxation so that I would be able to really enjoy everything this drink had to offer. The drink’s scent and taste is unique and memorable. It went great alongside a small popcorn snack as I watched a movie.

Ultimately, CideRoad is a drink that caters to the health of the body and the taste buds. It can also be use as remedies for things like headaches and sore throats. It’s capable of being a remedy drink, but enjoyment is offered in every sip.

Editor's Pick: Grandpa's Kitchen

Standing by the motto “Gluten free does not mean taste free” Grandpa’s Kitchen has given a gluten free diet a whole new taste. It is desirable and healthy for customers. The company manufactures bread and pizza mixes that provide a remarkable consistency, taste and texture. Grandpa’s Kitchen was founded by the Shrock family for people with Celiac Disease or any type of gluten intolerance, or even for people who just decide to maintain a gluten free diet.

I am none of the above but Grandpa’s Kitchen could definitely convince me to go gluten free. My favorite quick snack to have is grilled cheese, and I tried it for the first time with gluten free bread. It didn’t taste like I was sacrificing anything.

It’s always good to indulge in a healthier lifestyle, but it’s always easier to do so when it doesn’t feel like a sacrifice. Grandpa’s Kitchen is definitely sticking to their motto by making taste-filled gluten free products.

Editor's Pick: Fruttata Crisps

Fruttata was founded in July 2013 by Paul Adler, with a focus on creating a healthy and convenient snack that is nutritious and tasty. Fruttata has the same nutritional value as fresh fruit.

Fruttata has definitely been successful in creating a satisfying snack that tastes delicious. I’m an avid Pineapple eater, and Fruttata’s Pineapple Crisps offer that unique taste. The best thing about the Pineapple Crisps is how convenient they are. I like to take them with me to class to snack on them. They aren’t disruptive and are they aren’t messy, which makes them the perfect snack to have anytime or place.
