October Top-Shelf Advice

What is your best-selling organic product?

  1. Our best seller is Trampetti Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Umbria, Italy. It is also one of my
personal favorites. People are glad to find out that something they like is organic or that companies
have taken to the effort to get their products certified — it makes a really good selling point
in our small specialty food store.

  2. Nature’s Path cereals, which I also eat, are our best-selling organic product. Our company has
been in business for 26 years and we have 92 stores, stretching from Florida to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. We carry gourmet and organic foods, including a wet rack of vegetables. We also carry
a line of organic milk — we find parents are buying it for their children. Organic foods seem to
do better with the better-educated consumers.

  3. We are a specialty food and wine shop that is over 100 years old — established in 1905.
We just did a remodeling and have expanded our store. Our best sellers are our house-brand organic
pasta sauces and olive oils. We actually see people from the big chain stores in the area come in to
see what we have on the shelves, looking for ideas as to what we carry. Private labeling makes
us able to be more competitive with the larger stores.
